Responsibilities:

As a Transit Driver with TheBus, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely operating transit-type buses and vehicles, providing transportation services to the general public, including individuals with disabilities.

• Assisting passengers during boarding and disembarking as necessary.

• Performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and performing minor maintenance tasks, creating a safe and welcoming environment for passengers.

• Recording and reporting needed vehicle repairs and maintenance to supervisors.

• Collecting and reporting mileage and ridership data.

• Maintaining daily activity trip summaries and other related reports.

Qualifications:

To successfully perform this role, you will need:

• A valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.

• The ability to meet Department of Transportation requirements for physical examinations and licensing standards.

• Knowledge of Maryland state and local traffic laws and regulations.

• Effective communication skills, both spoken and written, to interact with passengers and follow instructions.

• A commitment to safety and the ability to work in varied driving conditions, as long as service has not been suspended due to weather.
